Powerboat World Championships return to Guernsey!
Popular 3C class coming early September

For the first time in 13 years Guernsey is set to host a premier World powerboat event. The hugely popular 3C class boats (previously 2 litre), which is often referred to as the ‘backbone' of World powerboating, are coming to Guernsey in early September to compete over a series of 3 races for the title of World Champions!
These boats range from 21 to 28 feet and are powered by 2.5 litre 200hp single outboard engines. The international fleet features a variety of designs from monohull ‘batboats' capable of 85mph and renowned for their rough water abilities, to 95mph catamarans more suitable for calmer conditions. Organisers have been extremely impressed with the number of top quality entrants from Sweden, Italy, France and Great Britain so far. The racing promises to be the most competitive for many years with several ex world and European champions battling it out along with some very promising newer racers.
Guernsey is one of the world's favourite venues for drivers and supporters alike. The challenging tidal waters provide drivers with testing conditions like no other location. Racing will take place on the 4th, 6th and 7th of September 2008 with a busy schedule of social events planned for the whole week. The event will be based in the Queen Elizabeth 2nd marina in St.Peter Port. Please visit the event website for more details www.guernsey2008.worldoffshore.com
Condor ferries, Nautical Guernsey and the Guernsey harbour master, Captain Peter Gill, have again been extremely generous and helpful in their support. For more information on the event please contact event coordinator Kevin Walsh on +447781 100 083"
