Essex Police Ports Unit recognises the East Coast as a potential terrorist threat to our county and they need you help

About the Small Ports Unit

One of the responsibilities of the Essex Police Ports Unit is to police all marinas and liaise with marine communities in relation to the potential terrorist threat to our county.
Our area of responsibility extends from the QE2 Bridge on the River Thames all around the coast to the River Stour.
The unit works closely with other agencies, in particular HM Revenue & Customs and the Border & Immigration Agency (BIA).

Yes...By being vigilant and notifying us of anything suspicious.

What to look out for
Unauthorised activity at your marina / sailing club
Packages being transferred from an vessel to vessel or to a vehicle in unusual locations, such as a remote part of the river
Activity or sightings of craft at night at unusual places
Strangers trying to hire your craft - or those belonging to other club members.
Evidence of adaption of a vessel for concealment purposes
If you do notice anything unusual...
DO NOT involve yourself
DO NOT touch any suspicious packages

Make a note of any registration number, markings or description
Call the Port Unit or Police immediately
