Opened in May 2001, Portishead Quays Marina, with its excellent facilities and 24 hour security, is becoming increasingly popular with locals and visitors alike. However, visiting yachtsmen should be aware of the large tidal ranges and strong tidal flows that they are likely to encounter in this part of the Bristol Channel as well as shipping plying to and from the Avonmouth and Portbury Docks. The entrance to the marina is via a lock, with access for a 1.5m yacht being at HW±45 hrs on neaps and HW±37 hrs on springs ? contact the marina on VHF Ch 80 ahead of time for the next available lock.
