Steeped in maritime history, Ramsgate was awarded ?Royal' status in 1821 by George IV in recognition of the warm welcome he received when sailing from Ramsgate to Hanover with the Royal Squadron. Offering good shelter and modern facilities, the Royal Harbour can be accessed in all conditions except in strong E'ly winds and comprises an inner marina, entered approximately HW±2, a western marina in 3m of water and an eastern marina with a 2m depth. Permission to enter or leave the Royal Harbour must be obtained from Ramsgate Port Control on Ch 14.
